Review of Hitman (2007) by Timo S — 05 Dec 2011
With Uwe Boll new on the scene it got hard to take any movie based on a video game seriously. When this got announced I felt dread that Vin Diesel was the choice for the role. How different of a movie we would have gotten.
Timothy Olyphant fit the shoes of 47 perfectly. Which really isn't an easy thing to do. The source material really gives you nothing as far as characterization. Or a steady plot or villains. Olga Kurylenko comes new on the scene with this one and proves to be both sexy and wonderful.
In a way there is a soft touch because of the growing strange relationship between the two main characters. You are never sure what it is or where it'll go. But it is a love of some sort and very touching film but in a very strange way.
Then you get great TV actor Robert Knepper always plays a creep who keeps me intrigued of what he'll do next. The action is top notch. The blood effects are very interesting. Loved the spray patterns and squib effects.
The sword fight felt really out of place though. It was almost like I switched over to a Highlander movie all of a sudden. But still a very fun moment. Highly recommended.
