Review of Hitman (2007) by Jc E — 02 May 2012
This was one of those movies that came out when a lot of other video-game-to-movie adaptations had been or were in the progress of coming out. Unfortunately, like 'Doom' before it and Max Payne after, this one was mediocre at best.
There's only so much story you can mine from a video game to make a feature length adaptation. Adding to the fact that the Eastern European setting isn't exactly exotic and the feckless villains really lend no credible threat, you're not getting a whole lot from it as a movie watcher.
Don't get me wrong, Timothy Oliphant (The Girl Next Door) gives it his all, and should be credited as such, but he can't really elevate the whole movie above said mediocrity.
