Review of Hitchcock (2012) by Jason L — 19 Jul 2013
Though Hitchcock may not be completely accurate, it does have heart and a kindness that steers it well. Leading the crew on this voyage are Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirren delight and entertain as Alfred and Alma. The supporting cast of Jessica Beil, Scarlett Johansson, Danny Huston, Toni Collette (who I love in this), James D'arcy (who plays Anthony Perkins very well) all keep the ship HITCHCOCK afloat. Though the most bizarre and actually most entertaining pieces of the film are the semi-relationship between Hitchcock(Hopkins) and the weird conversations he has with an imaginary Ed Gein(played wonderfully by Michael Wincott.
The film may not stand tall, but it stands with it's head held high and is not ashamed of it's shortcomings, and you can't ask more from a film than that.
