It would have been an interesting sketch, but the film just drags. The humor is a pale shade of Blazing Saddles, and most of it gets groans. But even worse is the fact that there actually are a few gems (Roman soldiers on weed, the Spanish Inquisition musical number, "it's good to be the king") that do achieve the correct level of wrong.
.. which makes the rest look even more bland.
