Review of His Girl Friday (1940) by Maya M — 13 Apr 2008
Cary grant and rosalind russell match each other's wit with zippy dialogue that can make your head spin in this clever screwball comedy. while I did have some qualms with the way it so nonchalantly dealt with the death penalty and murder I reminded myself that this is a comedy that, while at times is very socially critical (especially when showing how the news gets to print and how seedy and manipulative it is), in the end is meant to be taken lightly and never too seriously and surely meant to entertain, which it does.
