Review of Hiruko the Goblin (1991) by Brett C — 29 Nov 2008
Shinya Tsukamoto's first go at making a mainstream film. Aside from some visual elements here and there, it is almost nothing like his other movies, and has more of the feel of your standard by-the-numbers horror flick.
And the soundtrack is terrible. That said, it's still reasonably entertaining, with the aforementioned neat visuals and a bit of goofy humor here and there. It really is like none of his other movies, though, and that's not entirely a good thing.
