Review of Hilary and Jackie (1998) by Regina L — 24 Jul 2007
I had heard of Jacqueline DuPre because I am a classical pianist, and she was one of the best cellists of her time...but I had no idea about the other things going on in her life as portrayed through this movie.
This movie was beautiful and touching, and yet deeply sad. I can relate Jacqueline's sense of isolation and feeling unloved. To be great at something usually isolates you, and it was so sad that she developed MS and seemed to lose everything, except for the love of her sister.
It opened my eyes to DuPre's life, but I don't know how accurate this film based on her real life.
