Review of Highlander: The Source (2007) by Andrew C — 23 Jan 2009
Sadly, I have to say that this is the best Highlander sequel. I honestly don't know why everyone hates it so much. It's better than the other ones for sure. That being said, there are obviously a ton of problems with any straight to TV/DVD release. The story is pretty standard, paint-by-numbers and there aren't enough action scenes to utilize Adrian Paul. Also...wow does this thing break down at the end. After a 5 minute retelling of the movie, Duncan's "prize" for being the one is to have a baby. Fuck that shit. Also (and this is a problem with all the damn Highlander films), Duncan is a pussy. Oh man, it must really suck to live forever and know everything about everything and chop people's head's off and never get caught and sleep with new women all the time. Yeah, nothing sounds attractive about that life. Shut the fuck up Connor and Duncan. You guys are pussies.
Overall, I like this film. It's the closest Highlander has come (in the movies) to what I wanted in a Highlander movie. A decent, comic-book-y badguy, some other immortals with different weaponry and goals, and a cool-looking post-apocalyptic world. I'll take that over the other lameass sequels any day.
