Review of Highlander: The Source (2007) by Ramos J — 09 May 2009
Sequels are subject to the law of diminishing returns, we are told. The ever extending Highlander series is a variable example of this, with the first film actually being better in concept than execution, and it's first sequel being arguably one of the worst films ever released.
However, the rest of the series has been about claiming small victories, and this latest (last) is another one of these. Highly, highly stylised, contrived, cliched, with so so acting and a slight plot, it nevertheless entertains and creates a slick comic book style world which taps the mythology of the tv series it spins off from.
You'd never call this good, but better than many of its stable mates and oddly engaging in sections.
