Review of Highlander: The Source (2007) by Kaz N — 15 Mar 2009
Not the best Highlander sequel but also not the worst. Highlander II was by far the worst, but this one ranks in a second worst behind Endgame and Highlander III. None of these films nor the series were able to touch the creativity and class of the first movie.
I enjoyed seeing Methos and Joe again on the screen. The villain in this film is so very over the top ridiculous. Duncan is very in-character and ever the boy scout despite the fact the film keeps trying to convince the viewer that he's change.
No, he's the same as he ever was and that was actually one of the good parts of this film - would we really buy a jaded Duncan? The side characters were a bit extreme - Giovanni, the priest was unrealistic and the actor and hair style were just over the top.
The plot line was not well thought out - it has several holes and never really bothers to explain why a moral woman was the chosen one to lead immortals to the source. Disappointing over all. The idea behind the plot could have been executed so much better.
