Review of Highlander (1986) by Steven J — 11 Sep 2012
Incredibly popular cult classic. Lambert is excellent. Great story of a man who has lived for ages, struggling to understand his seeming immortality. We learn of his opportunity and burden in this superb tale of the centuries.
Fun to watch over and over, and lots do based on its perennial popularity. Filled with dark humor. Significant supporting cast includes Sean Connery and Clancy Brown. There are legends and rumors of other, longer versions, including a European release.
Some of these rumors are apparently true. The sequels take a bizarre thematic turn and are a disgrace to the original. Avoid them and leave the story untainted. Enjoy!
