Review of Highlander (1986) by Tim P — 10 Mar 2010
Being of Scottish descent I have decided to review one of my favorite movies of the 80's for sure, that being Highlander. Connor Macleod of the clan Macleod is our star (played by Christopher Lambert) who realizes he is immortal after a violent death on the battlefield Braveheart style (next review!).
He is killed by the most hardcore barbarian in the land Kuurgan who happens to be one of the most badass immortals on the planet. He vows to take Kuurgan out once he realizes he can not die unless he is decapitated.
Now some may say thats a blessing but I myself would think it is a curse...many of you will agree I am sure. There is one problem...he was already destroyed by Kuurgan once with ease...how will he defeat him? with training of course, by another immortal (by the way immortals can tell when someone else is immortal I dunno why thats just how it is).
The other immortal happens to be none other than Sean Connery, who shows Connor how to CUT HIS FUCKING HEAD OFF PROPER! This film is a good action movie with a pretty sweet story behind it. The film was a newe fresh take on Sci-Fi back in the 80's and it most definatly made it's mark.
...AND...Queen did the entire soundtrack! Thats awesome enough. If you haven't seen it I recommend it, but I am not going to go all Ricky Bobby and tell you it is the best movie ever made...because it isn't.
Due to the novelty and the fact I love the Highlander Saga....it is awesome and I recommend seeing it.
