Review of Higher Learning (1995) by Jazz M — 06 Aug 2007
This film was the first film to truly hit me in a place other than my adrenal glands. When I finished watching this film, probably at an age too young to truly comprehend some of the scenes, I was completely changed.
This film wasn't about making one minority look better than the other, it showed we all have flaws, and that it is our own arrogance and ignorance that can be our downfall. Omar Epps puts in a very believable performance as the main guy in the film, and Michael Rapaport is simply fantastic.
This is John Singletons finest achievement and everyone should watch this film, preferably before they've gone to university themselves.
