Review of Higher Learning (1995) by Marcey I — 10 Apr 2008
Not as interesting or engrossing as Singleton's previous two films but still an eye-opener non the less. Singleton tackles the issues of racism this time on a college campus. I thought the scenes that had the white cops harassing the black men when they did nothing wrong where really well done.
Especially the one towards the end where the cops start to beat down Omar Epps character. When it's obviously clear that the skinhead is the shooter. And even though this was done as a social commentary in the 90's this still has not changed in the new era.
Perhaps it's even gotten worse. And thank god we got an intelligent thug character for once props to Singleton for that one.
