Review of High Sierra (1941) by Tibor B — 16 Jul 2009
The location work in the climactic scene sets "High Sierra" somewhat apart from your run-of-the-WB-mill gangster reel, and Bogart acts with more lockjaw than normal. Studio-grey-at-the-temples, Bogart has to deal with a hapless Ida Lupino.
a crippled jailbait cutie, infighting accessories and a shit-coloured dog. Walsh directed in a too-sentimental vein.
