Review of High-Rise (2015) by Waleed A — 08 Jun 2017
Normally, I enjoy movies with abstract, absurdist imagery. Not this time. This is Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas after a lobotomy and personality purge, reading a dog-eared copy of Animal Farm amidst a cataclysmic orgy of filth.
It's been a long time since I've seen a movie that was such a painful chore to sit through - disappearing up its own cavernous asshole past the 40-minute mark. Style over substance doesn't begin to describe it.
Such a waste of quality actors. Only positive takeaway from all this is that Luke Evans makes a very convincing case for playing the lead in an eventual Lemmy biopic.
