Review of High Fidelity (2000) by Min K — 22 Feb 2010
Act I and III deliver, but Act II of this film gets muddy and sluggish. John Cusack is, of course, at the top of this game. And the soundtrack to this film is a great compilation of songs. I appreciated the overall tone of this film, but I would have liked a little more exploration of each of Cusack's ex-girlfriends (since it felt like the film was setting us up for that to be the premise of the story).
Jack Black just doesn't do it for me. This film has its moments that really work and make you think - but some of its plot points and narrative direction felt lost.
