Review of High Fidelity (2000) by Daniel A — 21 May 2011
On the one hand it feels dated beyond its years, on the other hand its so well-written and performed that it transcends its dubious era-straddling nature. High Fidelity is an intelligent comedy, following a miserly record store owner who recounts his top 5 breakups.
John Cusack brings life to the central character, who could easily have come across more irritating in less capable hands, but its supporting turns from Catherine Zeta Jones and Jack Black--in what remains a career-best performance--that steal the show.
