Review of High Fidelity (2000) by John R — 30 Nov 2017
Whereas the acting, direction and presentation of this film were all very good, the morally-depleted hipster point-of-view was completely unappealing. I fought to keep watching this story of misguided, totally lost, lowlifes.
John Cusack was one of the writers of this film and it's easy to believe, based on news accounts of his real life, that Roy is John - a pathetic character with no appreciation for women other than what they can do for him sexually or to build up his confidence.
I believe the appeal of this movie for so many is to see characters who are worse people than they are, which seems to be a common attraction to stories for too many.
