Review of High Fidelity (2000) by Brian S — 23 Jun 2013
Really enjoyable comedy. dry humour, quick wit, intelligent writing, and an engaging story. the characters are all almost entirely likable, but only as characters. if I knew people like Rob and Laura in real life, I probably wouldn't be so forgiving.
they seem to take "screwed-up romance" to mind-bogglingly childish (yet still oddly relatable) lows. nonetheless, this is a very funny, offbeat movie that's overall very solid. the music's pretty great too--a surprising highlight was actually Jack Black's brief rendition of "Let's Get It On".
not half bad!
