I'm genuinely sorry to report that Stephen Frears's adaptation of the eponymous Nick Hornby novel, "High Fidelity," is another one of the very few films that I realize I'm in the minority on.

Folks seem to enjoy the movie's realistic and frank portrayal of modern day relationships, while I found these aspects of the movie to be tedious and rather unengaging. People seem to love the honesty of the protagonist in question and, while I do feel as though John Cusack delivers a commendable performance, I didn't give a damn about his character, his plight or his opinions on pretty much any matter at all.

It's not as though his character was an appalling human being or anything. It's just that he's definitely the kind I'd try to avoid at a party. Also, way to cast Jack Black in a movie where I genuinely wavered on whether or not I hated his character.

Gotta say, that's the first time that's ever happened for me. The soundtrack curation is predictably sharp, but I'm reaching at this point. Really disappointed with this one.
