Review of High and Low (1963) by Aaron B — 26 Jul 2008
Akira and Toshiro at their best. Mifune's performance is believable and heartfelt. I also love the precise attention Kurosawa pays to even the most minor details of the crime and investigation. As I watched the very long scene wherein the investigators report on their progress, I realized that such a scene would scarcely even exist in modern film, let alone take up 20-30 minutes.
