Review of High and Low (1963) by Kenneth S — 10 Feb 2009
This film noir from legendary director Akira Kurosawa is suspense and drama at their absolute best. Beautifully shot, delicately directed, and magnificently performed, HIGH AND LOW tells the story of a man's moral dilemma when confronted with a kidnapper's ruthless plot.
The man at first believes that his son has been kidnapped, and he agrees to pay the ransom. However, he then learns that his son is all right; the kidnapper got the wrong boy. What does he do? The second half of the film centers on the kidnapper and the quest to get him.
A fantastic motion picture.
