Possibly Kurosawa's most suspenseful movie. if I could best compare this to anything, it would be Fritz Lang's "M" merely because of how the crime situation is handled, except this is actually taken into the law's hands and it is much more complex than "M".
like all Kurosawa films, the acting is superb and the cinematography is to perfection - its basically the ideal Kurosawa film, a type of film which is, and always will be, at the top of the 'film pyramid' (if you will).
