Review of High and Low (1933) by Sophia F — 16 Jun 2007
It's usually introduced as a cat-and-mouse thriller, but there's really more to it than that. Viewers who are unfamiliar with Kurosawa might find the pacing a bit slow, especially for the genre.
Toshiro Mifune's acting is, of course, impeccable - and the black-and-white visuals are so gorgeous that the most low-key scene of people walking around and talking becomes mesmerizing.
