Review of High and Low (1933) by Steven W — 08 Aug 2013
Though unusually static and rough around the edges in parts, this socially-charged police drama manages to crackle and sizzle once it actually gets to the crime proper; the raw procedural sequences can be a bit tedious, but they're well-worth sitting through for Kurosawa's depiction of the dark side of economic inequality.
