Review of High and Low (1933) by Marco F — 14 Mar 2009
A masterful piece of cinema that kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire duration. Mifune, Tastuya Nakadai and the actor who played the kidnapper are all fantastic, the cinematography is also something to admire as well.
Kurosawa's complete use of the frame- no space is wasted, the framing is extremely precise and the shot compositions are done from all the right angles. The pacing and the action which sums up to the editing is incredibly well done.
A fantastic film, it's required viewing for any film buff.
