Review of Hide and Seek (2005) by Evan A — 27 Jun 2013
Before I watched this flick I never imagined Robert Di Nero as anything other than a badass gangster. Well I'm glad to say that he plays a caring father/psychologist quite well in this disturbing thriller.
I can't say that Hide and Seek was a summer BLOCKBUSTER even though it came out in the summer of 2005. What I can say is that it received remarkable reviews for its story and performances. The other main star of the film is Dakota Fanning.
As young as she is in the film, she made a huge contribution to how creepy it was. I'm not giving any spoilers for the story, but I will say that I ABSOULTLEY LOVE movies that make you guess all the way up to the end.
I've seen my fair share of movies with big twists, The Sixth Sense, The Others, The Awakening, The Skeleton Key, and The Village. While some of the scares in this film are a bit more clichéd then in other modern day films, it may have one of the best twists I've ever seen in a film.
A chilling nightmare that leaves no stone unturned, Hide and Seek is a gripping, unnerving, and twisted decent into madness. Few movies leave you still wondering how they put it together, this is one of the few that do.
