Review of Hidden Figures (2016) by Darth V — 20 Feb 2017
Hidden Figures is a story mostly about the battle three women of NASA fought against discrimination in order to achieve success and recognition. Let's face it, you have to be pretty smart to work at NASA in the first place, but these women had to be brilliant to get ahead in the most vaulted engineering shop of the sixties - a white man's world.
It was frustrating to see them encounter segregation rules in the work place: colored coffee pots, rest rooms, engineering classes that were not for colored women... but they had spirit, and there were heroes in the story that helped them to get ahead.
The pressures and successes of the space program in the sixties is also a great inside view to the history of the U.S., and you are reminded of what a big accomplishment it was to put men into space and bring them back safely.
