Review of Hesher (2010) by Emily C — 25 Aug 2011
'Hesher' is definitely not the kind of movie that appeals to everyone and those who are easily offended should keep their distance. This is certainly not your average film and is by no means predictable or of sophisticated nature, but is as honest and straight forward as possible.
It seems to me that 'Hesher' would appeal to a very specific and possibly limited audience of those that prefer a good, rough, crude and uncensored film with emotional twists and turns. Spencer Susser successfully combined elements of drama with unmatched honesty to create a movie that is satisfying and true to itself.
The lack of fluid storytelling was an obvious downfall of this film and one that lost my attention at times, but in saying that, the originality of the movie certainly made up for it as the story itself was captivating and extremely well portrayed by Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
