Review of Hesher (2010) by The D — 15 Sep 2011
Hesher is one of the most bizarre, twisted and unconventionally moving movies I've ever seen. The acting is fantastic! Joseph Gordon-Leavitt proves that he's more than just the hipster pretty boy by giving a gutsy performance as an unlikeable, psychopathic drug-attic.
Somehow, even the incredibly sexy Natalie Portman is believable as a down on her luck, plain looking girl from the 1980s. This movie even somehow made Rainn Wilson seem believable as the father who recently lost his wife.
Perhaps the most impressive performance was the kid that manages to be likable through all the shit he does and goes through. This movie has all the qualities of a cult classic! It has memorable characters, a killer soundtrack and some of the most quotable lines you'll ever hear.
