Review of Hesher (2010) by Denise M — 23 Sep 2011
One of those rare indie gems. Gordon-Levitt returned to his indie roots and really gave depth to his character by undergoing quite a transformation. Portman was definitely in her element playing a simple role that she maximized and gave several dimensions to.
And it was nice to see her return to the indie world. The actor who played TJ is surely a rising star. But, the most mesmerizing was Rainn Wilson who took on such a depressing, dramatic character, which is very different from his The Office notoriety.
Wilson definitely showed a different side of his acting - a side I wouldn't mind seeing more of in future indie films. Good story, strong acting, great film.
