Review of Hesher (2010) by Andrea B — 06 Mar 2012
Quite a bizarre film.
I guess JGL and Natalie Portman are just about the only Hollywood actors that can get away with acting the high school roles while being over 30 years old.
Basically, if you zoom out and look at this film as a story, it really doesn't tell much and proves nothing. However, almost every scene gets you thinking expecting what's coming next. Sometimes you guess it, sometimes you don't. Most of the time you don't. The high unpredictability of Hesher's character make this movie entertaining and it kinda drags it along.
Music is a huge factor in this film. MetallicA's first 3-4 albums + 1 Motorhead tune. It is somewhat like Hesher himself - raw thrash. Overall, a good film, but maybe my rating is slightly exaggerated.
