Review of Hesher (2010) by Kathy B — 05 May 2012
Human beings have been poking vaginas for hundreds of years, likely longer.
A young man has lost his mother, his relationship with his father and grandmother, and is suffering from bullying in school. It doesn't seem like life can get any worse for the young man until he encounters a strange man named Hesher who forces himself into the boy's house and life. Will things get better or worse for the boy now that Hesher is in his life?
"Your gandma asks you to go for a walk you should go so she doesn't get raped.".
Spencer Susser delivers Hesher in his directorial debut. The storyline for this picture is very interesting and well delivered. The plot contains a solid blend of comedy and personal tragedy. I would compare this picture to Bad Santa. The acting was excellent and the cast contains Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Natalie Portman, Devin Brochu, and Piper Laurie.
"Have you ever been skull fucked before?".
"No.".
"Would you like to be?".
When I initially saw this preview I was so excited to see this picture. It reminded me of Beavis and Butthead mixed with Bad Santa...and it was almost exactly that. Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Natalie Portman were excellent in this film and the plot was well executed. This movie also contains a wonderful script. This is definitely worth your time.
"What's he doing here?".
"He's doing laundry.".
Grade: B/B+.
