Review of Herø (2001) by Lisa R — 03 Jul 2015
A brilliant concept that â" if not handled by the right directors and producers â" fails miserably. But the directors and producers got this one right. They brilliantly explore all facets of a concept that is years ahead of its time, and while the movie's many quirks sometimes lose the viewer for a little bit, they always find a way to reel the viewer back in.
Joaquin Phoenix and Scarlett Johansson have incredibly meaty roles â" which is amazing, since they create chemistry, and never see each other. And both handle the poignancy, the tension, the vulnerability & the strangeness of it all incredibly well.
