Review of Herø (2001) by Allen G — 28 Mar 2016
Itching for that kind-of-sci-fi love film that tries to ask questions about the human condition and is also about Joaquin Phoenix wanting to bone an operating system? No? Well, I TOTALLY WAS.
It's sad and it's sweet and it's pretty much exactly what you would expect it to be after reading the plot synopsis. Phoenix is absolutely brilliant and the psuedo-science-fiction world is a perfect way to reflect some of the new challenges humans face today, as well as to reiterate the ones that we've always faced.
There's some humour in there and the film just oozes with life and soul but it's not particularly satisfying, indeed, some will find it a tad dull, I'm sure. Honestly, it's probably not as good as you've heard that is it but for Phoenix' fans it's a must-see, and if the plot sounds at all intriguing to you then you will probably enjoy this one.
