Review of Herø (2001) by Hashim H — 22 May 2016
I went in expecting not to like this movie, but it was actually quite good. Spike Jonze does a great job of immersing you in this world that looks somewhat familiar but is just a bit off. You would think knowing the premise that the movie would make fun of Joaquin Phoenix's Theodore, but it doesn't do that at all.
You can understand how he falls in love with Samantha so easily. I didn't like the scenes with just Theodore and Samantha quite as much as his interactions with the people around him. The scenes between him and Amy Adams' character are great.
And Olivia Wilde really shines in the one scene she's in. It's a movie that sticks with you and is definitely worth checking out if you haven't seen it.
