Review of Hereditary (2018) by Brynn A — 07 Jun 2018

This movie did not live up to my expectations, after seeing the trailer and reading the "top critics" reviews. As the story turns in different directions throughout, the structure of constant filler, and nods to better movies, doesn't allow for the audience to get pulled into their imaginations to create a truly memorable scare.

I could not stop thinking that this was more of a dark comedy, and could see it being utilized for MST3K or Rifftrax commentary. The actors who portrayed the family did a great job for what they were given in a script.

It is unfortunate however that the script did not do them justice in return. This movie was as much of a splat as the girls face hitting the telephone pole.
