Review of Hereditary (2018) by Ann C — 17 Jun 2018
Don't be fooled (like I was) by any of the marketing you see for this movie. It is the worst movie I've paid to see at the theater in a VERY long time. It is not a horror movie. It is an overly long family drama with supernatural elements that crop up once you're about halfway in.
It has been described as a "slow burn" and I'm tempted to say that's a step in the right direction... they should slow burn every single copy of this movie so nobody has to be subjected to its stupidity ever again.
There are about 60 seconds of genuinely terrifying stuff near the end of this movie, far too little to justify its over two hour runtime. Not only should you not see this movie in the theater, you shouldn't even bother seeing it at home.
I laughed out loud on at least three occasions in this "horror" movie. Someone should be held criminally responsible for having the gall to charge money to see this movie.
