People were laughing in the theatre toward the end of this. There isn't a single jolt or scary scene in the movie. It's slow and boring. No one in the movie responds to the supernatural events the way a normal human would.
Amazing supernatural events are sloughed off by the characters in a so what kind of way. At no point does the family suffering a bizarre series of violent, macabre events ever seek help from anyone. Gabriel Byrne is comatose.
When the secret of the movie is revealed at the end, and the headless body of one of the characters ascends into a treehouse, the audience broke out into gales of laughter. I'm stunned this is a 90% rating from critics.
