Review of Hereditary (2018) by Lana L — 09 Sep 2018
I agree with Rex Reed's assessment of the movie. It was too slow (poorly edited), not creepy (Rosemary's Baby and The Exorcist did a much better job; there are some directors who can build suspense and tension in an ordinary scene.
Ari Aster is not one of them). The frightening moments were in-you-face bloody and there was little subtlety to the film. Usually, Toni Collette will give a riveting performance; in this film she was over-the-top too often--I'm assuming through bad directing.
