Review of Hereditary (2018) by Daniel R — 11 Aug 2018
Hereditary is quite possibly one of the scariest films iv seen in the cinema. Whilst offering a full bodied horror display, it also has a solid plot, impressive character development and some half decent performances from the cast.
Regarding the horror aspect of this film, it does everything thats asked of it and more. The spine chilling demonic supernatural horror with vivid imagery to mach, not to mention old school gore and genuine thrills and screams from the audience.
In terms of the plot itself, it takes a fair few hair pins and leaves the viewer in suspense the whole time. What contributes to this films success is the accessibility for an audience member of any of age. we explore the troubled life of an anxiety riddled teenage boy, the haunting experience of a deeply troubled pre teen girl and we also bare witness to the breakdown of a marriage, so in the most unconventional way, its a film for all the family to enjoy.
Thoroughly enjoyed it and I genuinely couldn't turn my light off in my bedroom the week after I watched it.
