Interesting story with the typical "start off with different stories and show they are all linked somehow"...besides the initial stories I don't think it built anything from everyone meeting each other, which made it feel a little thrown together.
..I can only compare this to something like Crash as a good example of something with a similar make up which delivers superb builds.
