Review of Herb & Dorothy (2009) by Karen T — 09 Jan 2010
Really enjoyed this documentary about two quirky New Yorkers who devoted their modest incomes to a lifelong collection of minimalist art. I had read about this movie and added it to our queue, then learned that their 50 Works for 50 States donation included the Milwaukee Art Museum.
We got a chance to see the exhibit before watching this movie, which was nice. I think I got even more out of it having seen pieces by some of the artists who participated in the documentary. (I'm still not sure I get Richard Tuttle, though).
You don't have to be particularly interested in art to enjoy this film. It's nice just to see two people devoted to something they love and to each other. Bonus: kitties!
