Review of Her (2013) by Tamera N — 31 Dec 2014
Spike Jonze's intelligent originality visualized the theoretic logics of today technology's futuristic evolution that puts a little satire to the obsessive relationship between a man and the phone by turning the satire into an intriguing romance between a loner and a Siri-like system, without a typically predictable outcome when it's only a wonder what the outcome is for the strange pair with a weird chemistry. Each genres of the film contributed something to the viewer's enjoyment: the sci-fi genre gave us the probability vision of the not-so distance future; and the drama genre gave us the fine performances from its cast while the romance genre was intriguing when putting a soul in the technology to produce the film's heart and smart points. The topical of "Her" evolved into a bigger vision with the title of being probably the most intelligent film of the year 2013, despite some moments of being weird out when watching an obsession turning into a relationship that leads to living in reality. That's how intelligent the film is. (A-).
