"Her" is Spike Jonze's 2013 sci-fi/drama film starring Joaquim Phoenix and Scarlett Johansson. The plot follows Theodore (Phoenix), a man struggling with his and his wife's separation, and his loneliness and depression throughout the process. That's until he meets the OS (operating system) and artificial intelligence Samantha (Johansson), a computer program that Theodore quickly falls in love with, and occasionally starts dating . The complex emotional plot works well, showing the one-half relationship between Theodore and Samantha, all throughout Theodore's eyes and thoughts. In supporting roles are, Amy Adams, Chris Pratt and Olivia Wilde.

Joaquim Phoenix treats Theodore's complex character well, showing great chemistry with Johansson, she being the one standing out between the two. But the one that truly shines in the cast is Adams, that even though has a minor role in the film, appearing in only a few scenes with Phoenix, demonstrates her great talent for acting that we'd already seen in movies like "The Fighter" and would later see in others, like 2013's "American Hustle". She's great here and should've gotten more recognition from critics and the Academy alike for the role.

The films also win's with both great editing and camera work, depicting Theodore's feelings and memories in beautiful, silent way that alongside the film's piano-filled score (beautifully composed by Arcade Fire), gives us a unique visual show. All along with Jonze's sexy, well putt together, oscar-winning script, filled with beautiful writing and fine directing. "Her" is a romantic, interesting and most importantly, original film that deserves its praise. 4/5.
