Review of Hemingway & Gellhorn (2012) by Jessica T — 09 Jul 2012
"Hemingway & Gellhorn" boasts a magnificent script, superb direction, and seamless visual effects that embed the actors in archival footage. The incomparable Nicole Kidman is exceptional as war correspondent Martha Gellhorn, the fiery heroine of the story.
Clive Owen is endlessly charming as Ernest Hemingway, whose constant drunken revelry covers a pained depth. Both actors have undeniable magnetism, and together they're explosive. At the heart of the historical drama is a riveting, tumultuous love story about two politically-minded writers struggling to reconcile their personal affairs with their ambition and passion for their craft.
