Review of Hellraiser: Inferno (2000) by Mark N — 16 Apr 2012
A wise move to completely change the direction of Hellraiser is both interesting but jarringly American. The detective angle and subtle reintroduction to the cenobites is interesting. Early effects are really good but from there they are a mix bag, some work some really don't and kills are truncated and often removed or offscreen. As ever Pinhead is a minor character and by far the best realised with Bradley's trade mark doom-rants intact.
I have really mixed feelings.. the film wasn't necessary but with the limitations they did well but as ever the makers use cenobites as killers and not ecstasy inducing torturers they were created as.
