Review of Hellraiser: Inferno (2000) by Kenneth B — 11 Jul 2012
This was the first straight to video release of a Hellraiser film and boy does it show. Most of it is a vapid cop-drama that seems to bare only a coincidental resemblance to anything even remotely Hellraiser-ish.
If the R rated parts were left out it wouldn't be out of place amid the blandness of daytime TV. The fact that Pinhead is shoe-horned in so that the film might bare the Hellraiser name hardly even seems to matter.
In the original he was on screen for a short time in the interests of serving the plot, in this film it feels contractual that he is even there at all. One thing of note is that it's easy to forget though that Pinhead was spouting moralistic nonsense to his victims long before Jigsaw ever did.
Its a small victory at best.
