Review of Hellraiser: Bloodline (1996) by John W — 11 Oct 2012
Tragically a disappointment to fans of the serie, the film feels like 3 shorter films crudely fused into 1. While the historical side of the film has some interest in explaining the back story of the Lament Configuration and indeed the motivations of the cenobites; It is woefully short lived.
This could be forgiven, as it then jumps to modern day, where the action continues again, only many years on, with the same demon character Angelique returning in an attempt to woo the building of a new Lament Configuration.
This however is tragically short lived, and the rest of the film bizarrely plays out on an enormous space station. The film feels disjointed and is a great disappointment. I would rather of seen more dynamics in present day, there is so much more to play with in the modern sequence; the temptation of the beautiful Angelique, the brutality and threats of pinhead, as well as a wonderful interplay between the two of them, who could very easily not seen quite eye to eye.
